TapNTable 0.9.11: safer automatic updates

What changed

Starting with this version, TapNTable’s automatic update system got more robust. Every downloaded update now goes through stronger cryptographic verification before it gets installed, confirming the file is genuine and was not tampered with along the way.

Protection against old versions

We also added downgrade protection: it is no longer possible to accidentally reinstall an older version that was replaced for security reasons. This closes a door that could, in theory, be used to bring outdated code back onto an installation.

Recovery channel

For exceptional situations, we built a dedicated recovery channel for emergencies, used only if something goes wrong with the normal update channel. Think of it as an extra safety net - not something you will notice day to day.

What you need to do

Nothing. Your installation gets more protected without you doing anything - the update arrives as always, in the background, and the system keeps working normally.
