TapNTable 0.10.20: Cron/Automation

A page for the heart of your automations

TapNTable does a lot of work on its own: it sends reservation reminders, pushes takeaway orders to the kitchen, creates backups, processes campaigns and newsletters, prunes old records. All of that depends on a cron job configured on the server - and until now there was nowhere to see whether it was actually working.

The new Setup - Cron/Automation page fixes that. Right at the top it shows the exact cron command for your server, with the paths detected automatically and a copy button. Below it, four checks tell you at a glance whether the cron is set up, whether it is being invoked at the right frequency, whether the daily tasks have run and whether the last pass finished. Green is green, and when something is wrong the page tells you exactly what.

See what your automations did

The page shows the last cron invocation (“2 minutes ago”), the next daily task and a chart with the runs of the last 7 days. The “Automation today” panel sums up the day: emails sent, SMS, newsletters completed, campaigns, backups and reservation reminders.

Further down, every scheduled task appears grouped by frequency - every minute, every 5 or 15 minutes, daily and monthly - with each one’s last run, duration and status. And if you need everything to run right now, the “Run now” button triggers a scheduler pass on the spot.

Daily tasks that really run

Not every host allows a cron every minute, and some invoke it on offset schedules. Before, a daily task set for 03:00 only ran if the cron happened to fire on that exact minute - if it did not, the whole day was lost.

In this version, daily and monthly tasks run at the first opportunity after their scheduled time, whatever the cadence of the server’s cron. Scheduled backups, cleanups and the licence revalidation no longer depend on the clock striking the exact minute.
