TapNTable 0.10.18: frozen QR codes and product order

QR codes no longer change on their own

Until now, a table, menu, takeaway, reservation or campaign QR code was redrawn on every view: changing the logo, changing the style or gaining the customisation add-on also changed the QR codes already printed on the tables. That is over:

  • Every QR code is frozen the moment it is created - style, logo and destination address are stored with it.
  • Editing a QR code deliberately freezes it again, with a clear warning that the printed copy no longer matches.
  • Losing the customisation add-on changes nothing already created - the paper is already on the tables.
  • Existing QR codes stay exactly as they are today.
  • The “enter code manually” option in the QR reader was removed - there never was a code to enter.

Products and categories in the order you want

  • Every product gains an “Order” field in its form: the lowest value shows first, across every channel - table menu, takeaway, widget and POS. New products go to the end.
  • Categories are reordered by dragging, like the dietary filters.
  • Featured products keep showing first - and now do so in takeaway and the widget too, where until now they were ignored.

Backups and updates done properly

  • The “create backup before updating” button now creates a real database backup: it shows up in the list, is replicated to the configured destinations and can be restored like any other.
  • File backups can now be restored - all three backup types are restorable.
  • The FTP or S3 destination indicator only lights up when the credentials are complete; until now it lit up with any field filled in.
  • A failed replication to FTP or S3 no longer marks the local backup, which was fine, as failed.
  • The Google Drive destination, which never worked, was removed.

Images and favicon on shared hosting

  • On cPanel hosting, public images (logos, product photos, favicon) could respond 403 after the last update. The cause was an overly broad protection rule inside the application itself - this version fixes it automatically, with no manual step.
  • The custom favicon is now used on every page, including public pages and the branch-in-maintenance page. The default Laravel artwork is gone for good.

Clearer settings

  • Branches: the list of holidays and closed days becomes collapsible, like opening hours; the Status switch explains that turning it off puts the branch in maintenance mode.
  • Takeaway: blocking notices stop being yellow banners and become tooltips on the button itself, with a shortcut to where to enable the feature; the widget link no longer points to a 404 when the branch is not ready yet.
  • Daily dish: the price field no longer repeats the formatted value underneath and the “Hours” card is gone - the daily dish uses the branch hours (or the takeaway hours, when active).
  • Reservations: the lead-time field appeared twice under different names and is now a single field; the large-group deposit switch works again; the group deposit amount is now charged on every payment channel, not only on the booking page; the button that led to branches mid-edit is gone.
  • Google feedback: you can enter the review link directly or let it be derived from the place ID configured in integrations - both paths within the integrations add-on.
  • Integrations: the reviews card now says what it actually does (asking for reviews, not displaying them); Google Analytics only tracks public customer pages, never the back office; a notice that using the Google API key may have costs; the footer map opens the correct place listing.
  • Tables: enabling QR ordering on a table only requires the branch to have the QR system switched on - it no longer requires an active product nor switches tables off in bulk when opening the page.
  • Floor plan: the automatic floor plan counts as ready from the first table, without forcing a save before it can be shown.
  • Navigation menu: the Platform section becomes Dashboard, Categories, Products, Buffet, Daily Dish and Tables - and Daily Dish only appears in branches that have it enabled.
  • Public menu: the scan-table-QR button only appears if at least one branch has the QR system enabled.
  • Discount price colour: the colour chosen in Customisations now paints every discounted price, including in the POS; without the customisation add-on it falls back to the default green.

Production fix

  • The SMS settings page could return a 500 error on production installs because of a difference between the development environment and the protected code. Fixed at the root.

Everything validated live in a browser - 3 screen sizes, 2 themes - before shipping.
