TapNTable 0.10.10: permissions with clear rules and a friendlier start

Critical permissions, properly locked

Editing roles and permissions, clearing a branch’s branding, and every backup operation - creating, downloading, restoring - now require the master settings permission on top of the page permission. This closes a real door: a role that could merely open the roles tab could, in practice, grant itself any permission. Not anymore.

Each team opens its own users

Whoever manages waiters, chefs or employees could create users but not open their detail page - the link existed and ended in access denied. The list permission now opens the detail of users with that role, read-only; editing remains reserved for user managers. The takeaway orders page also got its own permission (“Takeaway management”) instead of inheriting the POS one.

Settings that land in the right place

The Settings hub always opened on the licensing tab - even for people without access to it. It now lands on the first tab you can access, and the menu item shows for anyone with at least one tab (including people who only manage takeaway, reservations or the order-number screen). The Dashboard is consistent too: the link shows for all staff, as the page always allowed.

A friendlier start

The onboarding guide only shows the steps your permissions actually allow - no more steps ending in access denied. The SMS step is marked when you save the configuration (visiting the page no longer counts), the kitchen step counts on the first real use of the screen, and there are new steps for taxes, currencies and legal pages. On multi-branch installs, branch steps count per branch. The installer now ends with a clear note: your store starts in soft-launch - explore with test data and activate the branch when you are ready.

Tables and floor plan with honest warnings

  • With the table system disabled on the branch, the Tables page shows a clear warning with a shortcut to Branches - and printing a table QR warns that the code will not work until you enable the system.
  • On the Pro plan without the integrations addon, the floor plan editor is now the basic one - like on the other plans. The shortcut that treated Pro as owning the addon contradicted the licensing rule.
  • Multi-branch menu QR codes now count only active branches: the QR of a branch not yet open points to the main page until the branch is activated.

Small things that matter

  • Daily dish: a dish created inline (without going through the items page) now gets VAT and dietary filters - it used to be born with neither.
  • Coupons: an item marked “excluded from coupons” but without a configured tax was still being discounted on table orders. Fixed, in line with the other channels.
  • Customer portal: favourites no longer assume the installation’s first branch - on multi-branch installs they showed the wrong one; and the Invoices page stays hidden while invoicing is “coming soon”.
  • Payments: if your house currency is not EUR, the ifthenpay tab warns that the gateway only processes euros.
  • Internal cleanup: one shared prop without consumers gone, four phantom settings gone, 40 orphan translations removed per language, and license types fixed on the frontend.

Version 0.10.10 is available now and reaches installations through the built-in updater, as usual.
