TapNTable 0.10.0: SMS templates and revamped notifications

SMS templates, all in one page

There is a new page - SMS Templates - working exactly like the Email Templates you already know. You see every SMS the system sends at a glance, switch each one on or off, and edit the text in Portuguese, English and Spanish. That is 13 templates per branch: 11 that follow the service (reservations, waitlist, takeaway) and 2 for marketing.

As you type, the editor counts characters in real time and tells you how many messages you are about to spend - a yellow warning above one and red above three, because accents and emojis eat into the available space quickly. It is only a warning: you can always save.

In exchange, the seven loose switches scattered across the reservation and takeaway settings are gone. What decides now is the state of the template itself, and those screens show you that state with a direct link to manage it. Nobody already using SMS loses anything: each branch starts with exactly the templates it had switched on before.

Automatic email and SMS confirmations

Takeaway orders and reservations can now confirm to the customer on their own, by email and SMS, with messages written your way. EMAIL and SMS configuration was brought together in a single place, with clear warnings when something is still missing.

Marketing with real opt-in

Email and SMS campaigns now strictly respect who agreed to receive them: the audience, guests and coupons all filter by consent. Unsubscribing works in one click and without needing an account, and removal requests go into a list that survives any configuration change. Marketing emails also carry the unsubscribe headers that Gmail and Outlook show next to the sender.

Two notes for anyone who already had customers in the database: people who had only enabled “newsletter” will now actually receive them, and people who never explicitly said yes to marketing will no longer enter campaigns. Service emails - orders, reservations, receipts, account - are not affected by any of this.

A revamped notification bell

The bell was rebuilt from the ground up. It now distinguishes read from unread, critical notifications - such as a confirmed payment - ask for explicit confirmation so they never slip by, and sounds are unified across the whole system. The feed respects the branch and the permissions of whoever is looking: each person only receives what concerns them, and switching branches no longer fires old alerts from the history.

More reliable on-screen alerts

The success and error messages that appear in the corner of the screen were migrated to a new system. The first alert after opening a page is no longer lost, repeated actions - such as “Test Connection” - always show their result, and errors use colors consistent with the rest of the theme.

Fullscreen and topbar, rethought

Fullscreen mode now works in every modern browser and gained dedicated behavior for touch screens: the top bar hides itself to free up space and reveals with a swipe down, or with the Tab key on keyboards. The page title now lives in the topbar itself, which became more compact and readable even on 390px screens.

Emails exactly as the customer gets them

The email template preview now uses your restaurant’s real layout and the same final treatment as the actual send. What you see in the editor is what leaves the mailbox - no surprises after hitting send. The 24 email templates also gained a complete Spanish version.

Filters for drinks

Dietary filters are no longer only about food. There are 6 new drink icons - wine, beer, cocktail, water, soft drink and coffee - and two new filters in the catalog, “Alcoholic Drink” and “Non-Alcoholic Drink”. They arrive switched off, like all the others: turn on whichever make sense for your menu.

Correct times in any timezone

All dates and times are now stored in UTC and displayed in the restaurant’s timezone, from the POS to the reports. Timezones are now picked by region, with automatic daylight saving, and shifts, schedule blocks, pickups and deliveries keep the correct local time even when the clock changes. Scheduled tasks - a backup set for 04:00, for instance - now also run by the restaurant’s clock.

Version 0.10.0 is now available and reaches installations through the built-in updater, as usual.
